Glass Tubing, Poster Board, Neon, Mercury

This piece was inspired by a small moment in the “Spring Fresco” from Akrotiri, a Minoan landscape fresco dating back to around 1550-1500 B.C. It is considered an early stepping stone in humanity’s artistic expression. When I saw this fresco for the first time, I instantly felt a connection to all artists who came before me and was reminded of humanity’s innate instinct to create art. Drawing inspiration from this ancient piece, I reinterpreted it using a modern material typically associated with bars and open signs, demonstrating art can thrive in any medium.
